LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Michael Horton upon the occasion
of receiving the Arrow of Light Award, the highest of Cub Scout honors

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body, in accord with its
long-standing traditions, to honor the youth of today, and leaders of
tomorrow, whose character and achievements exemplify the ideals and
values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, Michael Horton, a member of Cub Scout Pack 139, Howard Beach,
New York, through his diligence and vigorous efforts, will achieve the
highest of Cub Scout honors, the Arrow of Light Award; and
WHEREAS, Michael Horton is receiving this fine award as he advances
into the Boy Scouts; and
WHEREAS, Michael Horton is a fifth grader at PS 207Q and participates
in the Kiwanis Club at school; he is an honor student, invited into ARP
(advanced regents program) for middle school and is thinking of a career
in geology; and
WHEREAS, Earning 25 belt loops, the Leave No Trace Award, and the
World Conservation Award, Michael Horton participated in two district
camporees and earned all 20 activity badges for webelos, giving him the
Super Achiever award; and
WHEREAS, Michael Horton is encouraged to continue with Scouting in
recognition of the importance of working toward becoming an Eagle Scout,
the highest of Boy Scout honors; and
WHEREAS, America has achieved her greatest heights of glory through
the dedication, determination and tireless efforts of the outstanding
citizens of this Nation; and
WHEREAS, It is only with the continued diligence and devotion of our
youth, tomorrow's leaders, that America will maintain her glory; and
WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America and its members are dedicated to
the development of character and leadership in the youth of this Nation;
and
WHEREAS, Michael Horton is a credit to his family, school, community,
and his State and Nation, and it is certain that his future will be
filled with accomplishments of equal importance; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Michael Horton upon the occasion of receiving the Arrow of
Light Award, the highest of Cub Scout honors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Horton.
