LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Teresa Peralta upon the occasion of
receiving a 2012 Scholarship Award from the Major General Irene
Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the young
adults of today and leaders of tomorrow whose character and achievements
best exemplify the ideals and values cherished by this great State and
Nation; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Teresa Peralta upon the occasion of receiving a 2012 Scholarship Award
from the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen,
Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Teresa Peralta came to the United States from Ecuador at the
age of 13; one of her first memories here was the kindness shown to her
by the first American doctor she saw who was also Hispanic; and
WHEREAS, A student at the Newburgh Free Academy, in Newburgh, New
York, Teresa Peralta plans to attend college to study pre-med; she hopes
to someday reciprocate the kindness that was shown to her by the doctor
she visited at such a young age; and
WHEREAS, Throughout her high school career, Teresa Peralta has
displayed exceptional academic achievement, a strong sense of community
responsibility, and a commitment to excellence which is unparalleled;
and
WHEREAS, Teresa Peralta, in achieving this academic honor, may take
just pride in the inspiration and contribution to the spirit of excel-
lence she brings to her family, friends, community and school; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Teresa Peralta upon the occasion of receiving a 2012 Scholarship
Award from the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter of Tuskegee
Airmen, Inc., and to extend to her best wishes for a future of purpose-
ful success and well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Teresa Peralta.
