LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Auburn High School Robotics Club
upon the occasion of capturing both the Excellence and Tournament awards
at the Syracuse Regional VEX Robotics Competition

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those who, by achieving outstanding success in their educa-
tional and scientific endeavors, have inspired and brought pride to our
majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is also the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize
the dedication and commitment of our young people who distinguish them-
selves through excellence in educational and technical competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Auburn High School Robotics Club upon the occasion of capturing both the
Excellence and Tournament awards at the Syracuse Regional VEX Robotics
Competition; and
WHEREAS, The VEX Robotics Competition program is specifically tailored
to bring the magic of robotics competition into the classroom; robotics
is an engaging way to integrate all facets of STEM education into the
classroom and head-to-head competition is a natural way to capture
students' attention; and
WHEREAS, The Syracuse Regional VEX Robotics Competition was held on
February 11, 2012, at the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Technology, 500
South Franklin Street in Syracuse, New York; and
WHEREAS, Paul Giovannetti, Susan Aikman and Christopher Watros are the
members of the Auburn High School Robotics Club; they are all veterans
of a five-course sequence in engineering offered at the school; the Club
is co-advised by technology teachers, William Gilmore and Kevin Casler;
and
WHEREAS, The Auburn High School Robotics Club built a robot named
Amber and entered it in the Syracuse Regional VEX Robotics Competition;
and
WHEREAS, Although this competition was the first time entry by the
Auburn, New York, High School Club, it took first place among 29 teams
entered; the Club captured the Excellence Award in VEX Robotics for best
overall designed robot, as well as the Tournament Champion Award for
overall performance; and
WHEREAS, Winning the Excellence and Tournament awards at the Syracuse
Regional VEX Robotics Competition rocketed the Auburn High School Robot-
ics Club to the world competition level; this prestigious event will be
held in Anaheim, California, and is the largest robotics competition in
the world attracting 600 teams from around the world; it is the Olympics
of robotics; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to celebrate and applaud outstanding accom-
plishments of remarkable students in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor and commend
the Auburn High School Robotics Club upon the occasion of capturing both
the Excellence and Tournament awards at the Syracuse Regional VEX Robot-
ics Competition; the Club's outstanding performance has clearly made a
contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of its
school and community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Auburn High School Robotics Club upon the occasion of captur-
ing both the Excellence and Tournament awards at the Syracuse Regional
VEX Robotics Competition; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the members and advisors of the Auburn High School Robotics
Club.
