LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the untimely death of Sergeant Adam C.
Munn, of Walton, New York, and paying tribute to his courageous actions
as a member of the United States Marine Corps

WHEREAS, The courage and bravery of our military personnel since the
United States Armed Forces commenced action in the Middle East will
ensure our continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of
democracy, and as a defender of liberty for people throughout the world;
and
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York who
have served so valiantly and honorably during these times of conflict
deserve a special salute from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, It is with feelings of deepest regret that this Legislative
Body mourns the untimely death of Sergeant Adam C. Munn, of Walton, New
York, and pays tribute to his courageous actions as a member of the
United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Adam Munn of Walton, New York and New Orleans, Loui-
siana, died in New Orleans on Wednesday, February 29, 2012; he was born
in Walton on October 15, 1985, the son of Arthur and Betsy (Webb) Munn;
and
WHEREAS, A graduate of the Class of 2004 at Walton Central School,
Adam Munn attended SUNY Delhi majoring in electrical technology; he was
a member of the Trout Creek Guntown Post American Legion No. 1554, the
Walton VFW Post No. 32, and the Walton United Presbyterian Church; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Adam Munn proudly served his country in the United
States Marine Corps, where he served two tours in Iraq and one in
Afghanistan and was awarded a Purple Heart; at the time of his death, he
was an active duty component of the Marine Forces Reserve Headquarters
in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, While in school, Adam Munn loved wrestling and running cross
country; he also enjoyed working around the farm, spending time with his
family and friends and had great pride in his 1954 Chevy pickup truck;
and
WHEREAS, An avid supporter of Toys for Tots, Adam Munn was always
concerned with finding special toys to donate; and
WHEREAS, Sergeant Adam Munn is survived by his parents, Art and Betsy,
his brothers, Shane, Andrew, and Nathan, two nephews, Ryan and Samuel,
and several aunts, uncles and cousins; and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women served their country; the freedoms and
security we cherish as Americans come at a very high price for those
serving in the military in times of conflict; it is fitting and proper
that we who are the beneficiaries of those who risk their lives, leaving
their families behind, express our appreciation and eternal gratitude
for their sacrifices and courageous acts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the untimely death of Sergeant Adam C. Munn, of Walton, New York,
and pay tribute to his courageous actions as a member of the United
States Marine Corps; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Sergeant Adam C. Munn.
