LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Ledgeview
Elementary School in Clarence, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate the pursuit
of excellence in education and service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commem-
orate the 50th Anniversary of Ledgeview Elementary School in Clarence,
New York; and
WHEREAS, Ledgeview Elementary School will celebrate its 50th year with
presentations about each decade of its existence given by various grade
levels within the school; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the year, Ledgeview Elementary School has been
focusing on the similarities between its founding and today; the staff
have been making announcements about the cost of milk and gas in previ-
ous decades, and displays have been created to show what life was like
in the world and at Ledgeview at different points in its history; and
WHEREAS, In the fall, the 50th Anniversary Celebration will culminate
with the unearthing of a time capsule that was buried at the school's
25th anniversary; in addition a new time capsule will be buried to
reflect life in the current day; and
WHEREAS, Ledgeview Elementary School was dedicated in 1962; the name
was chosen through a contest won by a student; and
WHEREAS, 550 pupils now attend Ledgeview Elementary School, in what
was originally designated for a maximum of 800; and
WHEREAS, Major changes to Ledgeview Elementary School have included
the addition of a library and several classrooms; and
WHEREAS, Ledgeview Elementary School has a family atmosphere and hosts
special events such as family fun nights, an ice cream social and the
fall festival; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Ledgeview Elementary School received National Blue
Ribbon School recognition; and
WHEREAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents, educators
and administrators to provide the highest quality education for students
is the hallmark and tradition of Ledgeview Elementary School; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding administration at Ledgeview Elementary School
has fostered a learning environment which promotes the maximum growth of
every student, enabling each student to develop the vital skills neces-
sary to succeed throughout their later school years; and
WHEREAS, Ledgeview Elementary School is proudly aware of its distin-
guished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to parents,
students and the community, and planning with vision and purpose for the
ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in the years to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Ledgeview Elementary School in
Clarence, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ledgeview Elementary School.
