LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Josie Kivort upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Capital District Hadassah's Anshei
Chesed Award to be presented at its Centennial Donor Celebration on
April 29, 2012

WHEREAS, From time to time it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
take note of certain extraordinary individuals, recognizing their valued
contributions to the success and progress of society, and to publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Josie Kivort upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Capital District Hadassah's Anshei Chesed Award to be presented at its
Centennial Donor Celebration on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Shaker Ridge
Country Club in Loudonville, New York; and
WHEREAS, In addition, the Capital District Hadassah is proud to
congratulate all members of Hadassah on the occasion of the 100th birth-
day of Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America; and
WHEREAS, Hadassah is a volunteer women's organization whose members
are motivated and inspired to strengthen their partnership with Israel,
ensure Jewish continuity, and realize their potential as a dynamic force
in American society; and
WHEREAS, Founded in 1912, Hadassah retains the passion and timeless
values of its founder, Henrietta Szold, Jewish scholar and activist, who
was dedicated to Judaism, Zionism, and the American ideal; and
WHEREAS, 2012 Anshei Chesed Award recipient, Josie Kivort has been
called upon to contribute her time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of herself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Josie Kivort is the Hadassah's past Schenectady Chapter Pres-
ident, the Upper New York State Region President and National Board
Member; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Josie Kivort has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Josie Kivort has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Josie Kivort upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Capital District Hadassah's Anshei Chesed Award to be presented
at its Centennial Donor Celebration on April 29, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Josie Kivort.
