LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring James Francis Mulcahy upon his ordina-
tion as a Priest in the Eastern Orthodox Church

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor the commit-
ment of certain residents of this great Empire State who dedicate their
lives to others through religious service; and
WHEREAS, New York State is the proud home to persons of faith who
tirelessly give of themselves working toward the greater and common
good; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to honor
James Francis Mulcahy upon his ordination as a Priest in the Eastern
Orthodox Church; and
WHEREAS, James Francis Mulcahy has shared his life in the service of
others in the United States of America, and now through ongoing pastoral
work among persecuted minorities in Eastern Europe, most notably in
Ukraine and Russia; and
WHEREAS, James Francis Mulcahy has devoted himself to the service of
God, primarily in New York State, through hospice chaplaincy, bereave-
ment counseling, training group facilitators, chemical dependency coun-
seling, and teaching and lecturing on subjects to nurture the human
spirit; and
WHEREAS, A native of Dalton, New York, James Francis Mulcahy was duly
ordained to the priesthood of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox
Church on March 20, 2012, by Bishop Paul Peter; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to honor and cele-
brate the ordination of certain citizens who have dedicated their lives
in service to others through religious vocations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
celebrate the ordination of James Francis Mulcahy as a Priest in the
Eastern Orthodox Church; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father James Francis Mulcahy.
