LEGISLATIVE  RESOLUTION  honoring  the Bonura Hospitality Group upon the
occasion of its designation as a recipient of the Next Generation  Award
by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce
WHEREAS,  Organizations  which give of its time and energy and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
  WHEREAS, The Bonura Hospitality Group has given not only of  its  time
and  energy  but also of its competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
  WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud  to  honor  the  Bonura
Hospitality Group upon the occasion of its designation as a recipient of
the  Next  Generation  Award  by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of
Commerce, to be celebrated on February 5, 2011; and
  WHEREAS, This fine event is the Chamber's Le Cirque Des Affaires Annu-
al Gala which will be held at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie,  New  York;
and
  WHEREAS, For 40 years, the Bonura family has been fostering the Hudson
Valley  economy by providing jobs to hundreds of local workers, and this
dedication to the Hudson  Valley  community  has  been  bequeathed  from
parents  Joseph  Bonura Sr. and his wife, Mary, to their children Joseph
Jr., Michael Bonura, and Mary Caster; and
  WHEREAS, Joseph Bonura, Jr., is the Managing Partner of The  Grandview
and  Shadows  on  the Hudson in Poughkeepsie; he also served as managing
partner, project manager, and construction manager for the former Sewage
Treatment Plant, DeLaval, and PURA 14 projects as part of Poughkeepsie's
Waterfront Revitalization Effort; and
  WHEREAS, In addition, Joseph Bonura,  Jr.,  serves  as  a  Trustee  of
Community  Foundations of the Hudson Valley and is a Director of Walkway
Over the Hudson, Dutchess Regional  Chamber  of  Commerce  and  Dutchess
County  Economic  Development  Corporation;  he is a recipient of the 40
under 40 award from the Greater Southern Dutchess  Chamber  of  Commerce
and  along  with the rest of his family, was honored in 2006 as a pillar
of the community by the Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center,  and
in  2009  as Family of the Year by Family Services Inc. of Poughkeepsie;
and
  WHEREAS, Recently, Joseph Bonura, Jr., served on a  three-member  task
force  to  consolidate the regional Dutchess County Chambers; a resident
of Newburgh, he is married to Whitney,  and  they  are  both  the  proud
parents of their daughter, Isabella; and
  WHEREAS,  Michael  Bonura  is  the  President  and  General Manager of
Anthony's Pier 9; becoming an Eagle Scout has helped to mold  him  as  a
community-minded   citizen;  he  actively  participates  in  fundraising
efforts for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, and  the
American Cancer Society; and
  WHEREAS, Michael Bonura serves as Director of both the Community Foun-
dation  of  Orange  and  Sullivan,  and  the  Orange  County  Chamber of
Commerce; a resident of Newburgh, he is married to  Jennifer,  and  they
are the proud parents of Michael Jr., and Matthew; and
  WHEREAS, Mary Caster is the Catering Manager at Shadows on the Hudson,
the  best  restaurant  with  a view according to HUDSON VALLEY MAGAZINE;
after graduating from Fordham University in  1988  with  a  Bachelor  of
Science  degree  in Accounting, she worked at Pangia & Company in Pough-
keepsie; and
  WHEREAS, In 1990, Mary Caster opened the first foodservice  establish-
ment  at  the new public terminal at Stewart International Airport; when
the airport chose to move forward with a national chain for its foodser-
vice, she began running some of the catering operations at the then  new
Bonura Hospitality Group venture, The Grandview; and
  WHEREAS, Mary Caster currently serves as the Treasurer of the New York
Military  Academy  Parent's  Auxiliary;  she  lives in Newburgh with her
husband, Brent, the General Manager of The Grandview,  and  their  chil-
dren, Jackilyn, Joseph, and Jenna; and
  WHEREAS,  Throughout  the  entire  period  of its community service, a
period of constructive involvement, the  Bonura  Hospitality  Group  has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
  WHEREAS,  Rare  indeed is the impressive dedication shown by organiza-
tions for the benefit of others which the Bonura Hospitality  Group  has
displayed throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
  RESOLVED,  That  this  Legislative  Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Bonura Hospitality Group upon the occasion of its  designation
as  a  recipient  of  the  Next  Generation Award by the Dutchess County
Regional Chamber of Commerce; and be it further
  RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mrs. Joseph Bonura, Sr., Joseph Bonura, Jr., Michael  Bonura,
and Mary Caster.
