LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Dennis Metnick upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition for his many years of commu-
nity involvement

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Dennis Metnick upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition for his many years of community involvement; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated by a recognition dinner to be held in his
honor in July of 2010; and
WHEREAS, The owner of Metnick Law Offices in Margaretville, New York,
Dennis Metnick brings a strong background in business, real estate,
arts, and estate law to his practice of law; he founded his law firm in
1992; and
WHEREAS, Dennis Metnick has been an active director and performer at
the Shandaken Theatrical Society in Phoenicia, New York; he is also its
Vice President and a member of the Board of Directors, as well as its
artistic director; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Dennis Metnick has participated in performances
for the Todd Mountain Project, Schoharie Creek Players, Writers in the
Mountains Ten-Minute Play series, and Bet Am Shalom Theater Project; he
was also a stage manager and lighting director for three seasons at the
Belleayre Conservancy Summer concerts; and
WHEREAS, A distinguished mentor who has coached local teens and
prepared them for academic careers in the theater arts, Dennis Metnick
has also nurtured the creative impulses of dozens of local residents;
and
WHEREAS, Dennis Metnick has served ten years on the Margaretville
Memorial Hospital Board of Directors, including two years as Vice Chair;
he is currently on its Quality Control Committee; and
WHEREAS, A contributor, benefactor and sponsor to numerous local
community causes since 1993, Dennis Metnick has volunteered for myriad
worthy community organizations, including the Fairview Public Library,
Belleayre Conservancy, Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, Roxbury
Arts Group and Todd Mountain Theater Project; and
WHEREAS, Married in 1989 to Amy Moody, Dennis Metnick is the father of
a son, Jason, and daughter, Lisa; he has five grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his professional and communi-
ty service, a period of constructive involvement, Dennis Metnick has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of his colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Dennis Metnick has displayed
throughout his life; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Dennis Metnick upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition for his many years of community involvement; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dennis Metnick.
