LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Correction Officer Karen Miller Lovett
upon the occasion of her retirement after 23 years of distinguished
service with the New York State Department of Correctional Services
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to express its grate-
ful appreciation to individuals who dedicated their lives and careers to
serve and protect; and
WHEREAS, For the past 23 years, Karen Miller Lovett has rendered
faithful, conscientious and valuable service to the people of the State
of New York as a Correction Officer with the New York State Department
of Correctional Services; and
WHEREAS, After working for 14 years as a Nurse at the Rome Develop-
mental Center, Karen Miller Lovett began her distinguished career as a
Correction Officer with the New York State Department of Correctional
Services in 1989; and
WHEREAS, Karen Miller Lovett and her late husband Robert E. Lovett Jr.
had three children, Brandon, Brooke and Brent, and she looks forward to
becoming a grandmother upon the birth of Brent's son, to be named Liam
Robert Lovett, in April 2012; and
WHEREAS, Karen Miller Lovett also has two cherished dogs, Karma and
Honey; and
WHEREAS, She enjoys cooking and baking, as well as exercising at the
gym and walking, and plans to spend her winters in the future in Lady
Lake, Florida, where she recently purchased a winter home; and
WHEREAS, In her capacity as a Correction Officer at the Mohawk Correc-
tional Facility in Rome, New York, Karen Miller Lovett served with
loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In her official acts, she was always governed by a keen sense
of duty and responsibility; and
WHEREAS, During her tenure at the Mohawk Correctional Facility, Karen
Miller Lovett earned the admiration, esteem and affection of her
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Correction Officer Karen Miller Lovett upon the occasion of her
retirement after 23 years of distinguished service with the New York
State Department of Correctional Services; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Karen Miller Lovett.
