LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Harvey Lawrence upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Health Care Advocate Award
WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made signif-
icant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Harvey
Lawrence upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Health
Care Advocate Award, to be celebrated at the 5th Annual Men of
Distinction and Women of Valor Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 17,
2012; and
WHEREAS, The Men of Distinction and Women of Valor Awards Ceremony is
held each year to honor and pay just tribute to outstanding individuals
whose leadership roles have had a significant impact on the daily lives
of the people of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Harvey Lawrence became President and CEO of the Brownsville
Multi-Service Family Health Center in January 2009, after serving as the
Corporation's Executive Vice President and COO; since joining the execu-
tive team in 1994, he has been responsible for most of the Corporation's
new initiatives and expansion; and
WHEREAS, Harvey Lawrence is a former non-profit developer for afforda-
ble housing and Vice President in the investment banking, public finance
and real estate divisions of the former Manufacturers Hanover Trust
Bank; he began his public service career as Management Trainee at the
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Harvey Lawrence's tenure in public service has included posi-
tions as Senior Vice President at the Financial Services Corporation in
New York City's Office of Economic Development, Executive Director of
the City's Industrial Commercial Incentive Board, and Senior
Finance/Development Director at the New York City Public Development
Corporation; and
WHEREAS, Harvey Lawrence holds a Master of Science Degree in Manage-
ment Science and Policy Analysis from Harriman College at the State
University of New York at Stony Brook; he is also a graduate of the
Johnson & Johnson/UCLA Health Care Executive Certificate Program; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the wellbeing and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Harvey Lawrence upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Health Care Advocate Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Harvey Lawrence.
