LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Fitzmaurice upon the occasion of
his retirement after 25 years of distinguished service to the New York
State Department of Corrections

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert Fitzmaurice upon the occasion of his retirement after 25 years of
distinguished service to the New York State Department of Corrections,
to be celebrated on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the Sunset Restaurant
in Auburn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Fitz, Robert Fitzmaurice honorably
served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1970-1973;
and
WHEREAS, In addition to his military service, Robert Fitzmaurice
worked at Nine Mile I, II and Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Stations; he
also worked as a Carpenter for Local 747 before beginning his career as
a Corrections Officer; and
WHEREAS, For 25 years, Robert Fitzmaurice has rendered faithful,
conscientious and valuable service to the New York State Department of
Corrections, spending the majority of his career with the Butler Alcohol
& Substance Abuse Correctional Treatment Center in Red Creek, New York;
and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as Corrections Officer, Robert Fitzmaurice
served with loyalty, honor and distinction; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Robert Fitzmaurice was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
and
WHEREAS, An active member of his community, Robert Fitzmaurice served
as a Volunteer Fireman in Walcott, New York, and as a member of the
American Legion; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Terri, and their four
children, Dan, Brian, Karen and Allison, as well as five grandchildren,
Rylee, Adalynn, Rebecca, Michael and Peyton, all of whom feel privileged
to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Butler Correctional Facility,
Robert Fitzmaurice earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his
colleagues; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Fitzmaurice upon the occasion of his retirement after 25
years of distinguished service to the New York State Department of
Corrections; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Fitzmaurice.
