LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Cabs Nursing Home Company, Inc. upon
the occasion of hosting the Women of Elegance event on May 25, 2012

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Cabs Nursing Home Company, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting the Women
of Elegance event on Friday, May 25, 2012 in Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Cabs is a non-profit organization which serves the needs of
the Bedford Stuyvesant Community in a number of areas; one of these
areas being the Cabs Nursing Home Company, Inc., established in 1976;
and
WHEREAS, Cabs Nursing Home's facility serves 157 patients from neigh-
borhoods in Brooklyn, providing the highest quality care in nursing,
social services, medical specialties and recreational activities that
range from bingo and movies, to birthday parties and concerts; and
WHEREAS, For the past four years, Cabs Nursing Home Company, Inc. has
been sponsoring the Women of Elegance event; and
WHEREAS, Women of Elegance helps to bind up the physical and psycho-
logical wounds that accompany domestic violence and give its victims the
hope and support they need to help them get on with their lives in an
atmosphere of dignity and self-respect; and
WHEREAS, In addition to this year's event, Cabs Nursing Home Company,
Inc. will pay tribute to two of its residents, former Registered Nurse
Ena Schouburgh who celebrates her 105th Birthday and Mayme Hackett, a
one time staffer to former President and Vice President John F. Kennedy
and Lyndon B. Johnson, who will be observing her 95th Birthday; Cabs
Nursing Home Company, Inc. will also be recognizing the dedicated
service of employees with over 30 years of service; these employees
include: Gloria Thomas, Medical Liaison; Marcia Bennett, Nurse's Aide;
Phyllis Clark, Nurse's Aide; and Carmen Gonzalez, Nurse's Aide; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cabs Nursing Home Company, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting the
Women of Elegance event on May 25, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cabs Nursing Home Company, Inc., and to the aforemen-
tioned honorees.
