LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Jeannie Bochett upon the occasion of her
retirement after 38 years of distinguished service to Steelcase
WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to the arts is unparalleled; it has
become a world renowned center for artistic expression; it has fostered
the growth and development of various art forms, including interior
design; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of those outstanding
individuals, whose dedication and achievements have been instrumental to
the fields in which they work; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Jeannie Bochette upon the occasion of her retirement after 38 years of
distinguished service to Steelcase; and
WHEREAS, Jeannie Bochette began her career, after receiving an under-
graduate degree from the University of Akron and a Master's Degree from
Hunter College, as an educator at the St. Emetic School; she then moved
on to a career in design, earning the position of Executive Director of
the American Institute of Designers; and
WHEREAS, For the past 38 years, Jeannie Bochette has been a dedicated
and loyal employee to Steelcase, and achieved the position of Marketing
Manager for Business Development in New York City; she learned very
early that New York City was the nexus of corporate America and strove
to keep Steelcase current with the industry; and
WHEREAS, Under Jeannie Bochette's guidance, Steelcase became active in
the community, embracing such charitable projects and organizations as
Dining by Design, supporting the AIDS Momentum Project, raising funds
for the Healthy Kids Event for the United Hospital Fund, and conceiving
and implementing a program to raise funds for the Wreath, Menorah and
Stocking Event which benefits the New Alternatives for Children; and
WHEREAS, The American Society of Interior Designers, the International
Interior Design Association, The Decorators Club, Inc., New York School
of Interior Design, Edith Wharton Restoration, and the Interior Design-
ers for Legislation in New York have all benefited from Jeannie
Bochette's unique perspectives and her creative talent; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her devoted and loving husband,
Louis R. Bochette, who has held positions in both the Legislative and
Executive branches of New York State Government, who has served as a
Staff Director in both the Assembly and the Senate of New York State,
and who feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jeannie Bochette upon the occasion of her retirement after 38
years of distinguished service to Steelcase; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Jeannie Bochette.
