LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Stella Bailey upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2012 Martha Washington Woman of History
Award

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stella Bailey upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2012 Martha Washington Woman of History Award; this auspicious occasion
was celebrated on Saturday, April 7, 2012; and
WHEREAS, During the annual program entitled, "The General's Lady,"
Stella Bailey was honored by the Washington's Headquarters State Histor-
ic Site with the 2012 Martha Washington Woman of History Award; this
auspicious event was sponsored by the Palisades Parks Conservancy and
the Friends of the State Historic Sites of the Hudson Highlands; and
WHEREAS, The Executive Director and Financial Officer of the Fort
Montgomery Battle Site Association, Stella Bailey has rendered over 50
years of dedicated and committed service in preserving Hudson Valley
history; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Stella Bailey is the President of the Town of
Highlands Historical Society, as well as the Town/Village Historian; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Stella Bailey has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the respect and admiration
of her colleagues, friends and family; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Stella Bailey has displayed through-
out her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stella Bailey upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2012 Martha Washington Woman of History Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Stella Bailey.
