LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow upon
the occasion of their designation as recipients of the 2012 Virginia
Horan Community Service Award on May 24, 2012

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow have given not only of
their time and energies but also of their competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently have been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Anthony Carrow
and Charles Carrow upon the occasion of their designation as recipients
of the 2012 Virginia Horan Community Service Award on Thursday, May 24,
2012; and
WHEREAS, Sons of the late Alfred and Mary Jane Carrow, Anthony and
Charles Carrow were born into a large family of 11 children; the family
grew up on Western Avenue near Johnston Road in Guilderland, New York
and attended Guilderland schools; and
WHEREAS, After high school, Charles Carrow served in the United States
Navy from 1979-1983; he started his career in real estate with L.A.
Swyer Company, followed by 20 years with Omni Development; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Carrow attended Hudson Valley Community College and
the University at Albany; his first full-time endeavors in the business
world involved the hospitality industry, eventually rising to General
Manager of the Hampton Inn; and
WHEREAS, Soon after Anthony Carrow joined Omni Development, at the
urging of brother, Charles Carrow; and
WHEREAS, On January 1, 2006, Charles and Anthony Carrow founded Carrow
Real Estate Services; and
WHEREAS, Today, Carrow Real Estate provides a broad range of services
in the areas of sales and leasing, property management, tenant/buyer
representation, advisory services and green/LEED certification; and
WHEREAS, The company still operates from its original office at One
Commerce Plaza and now has regional offices in Missouri and Pennsylva-
nia; and
WHEREAS, Carrow Real Estate is truly a national real estate company,
having been recognized by banks such as Wells Fargo; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Carrow Real Estate has over 10,000,000 square feet
of lease space under their management; they recently consulted on a
contract involving the Prudential Plaza in Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow have been called upon to
contribute their time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and have always given of themselves unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Charles and Anthony Carrow have been sustaining models of
citizen volunteerism in the Guilderland Community and the Capital
District for over 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Charles Carrow served for many years in the past as a volun-
teer at the Westmere Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Carrow is still at the Westmere Fire Department,
having long served as Fire Chief, and as a member of the Board of Fire
Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the Carrows sponsor a golf tournament which has
benefited Catholic Charities, St. Catherine's Children's Center, the
Northeast Parent and Child Center, the American Heart Association, and
many others; and
WHEREAS, Their generosity includes adopting several families during
the Christmas Holidays, plus helping out with various community fund

raisers such as the recent event at the Guilderland Fire Department to
assist a local veteran; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow
have stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow have
displayed throughout their lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow upon the occasion of their
designation as recipients of the 2012 Virginia Horan Community Service
Award on May 24, 2012; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Anthony Carrow and Charles Carrow.
