LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Aaron and Shahla Weg upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition by OHEL Children's Home and
Family Services as Dinner Honorees at its 41st Annual Dinner on February
13, 2011

WHEREAS, The quality and character of life in the Empire State is great-
ly enriched by the faithful and generous service of those whose purpose-
ful endeavors enhance the quality of life in their communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend individuals of such magnanimous conduct and bearing who demon-
strate a deep and continuing concern for others, and in so doing,
inspire others to do the same; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and fully in accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Aaron and Shahla Weg upon the occasion of their designation for special
recognition by OHEL Children's Home and Family Services as Dinner Hono-
rees at its 41st Annual Dinner, to be held at the New York Hilton on
Sunday, February 13, 2011; and
WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the mission of OHEL Children's Home and
Family Services is to protect and strengthen individuals and families by
meeting the diverse social service needs of the community through
programs of excellence; and
WHEREAS, OHEL Children's Home and Family Services provides homes and
families for abandoned, neglected, abused and disabled Jewish children
and adults and families in crisis; through a variety of programs, it
cares for thousands of people at every stage of life; and
WHEREAS, With nearly 100 residences, apartments, and programs located
throughout New York City and surrounding areas, OHEL serves the entire
Jewish community in New York City and the New York Metropolitan region,
providing vital services to families in crisis, including housing,
foster care, school-based services, outpatient counseling, at home and
sexual abuse services, and camp opportunities for individuals with disa-
bilities; and
WHEREAS, In recent years OHEL has been working to make its services,
training, and consultation available throughout North America and Israel
as well and currently serves communities in New York City, the surround-
ing boroughs, Northern New Jersey, Southern Florida and worldwide on the
web; and
WHEREAS, Each year, at its Annual Dinner, OHEL Children's Home and
Family Services proudly recognizes the achievements of those, such as
Aaron and Shahla Weg, who support and work diligently on behalf of
OHEL's children and families; and
WHEREAS, Aaron and Shahla Weg, longtime Monsey area residents and
members of Congregation Anshe Sefard in Wesley Hills, are former foster
parents who embraced an opportunity to welcome a teenager into their
home, who along with a group of other Jewish children fled Iran as poli-
tical refugees in 1989; and
WHEREAS, The teenager sponsored by the Weg family while he was living
in Vienna came to the United States when he was 16 and lived in the
Weg's family home for many years, including while he attended college;
and
WHEREAS, Twenty-two years later, that teenager, Dr. Payman Rabiei, and
his wife Nazanin, are now joyfully being honored at OHEL's 41st Annual
Dinner along with Aaron and Shahla Weg; and
WHEREAS, Aaron Weg is Executive Vice President of Programming at ADL
Data Systems, Inc., a leading provider of software to the long term care

industry and nursing home chains worldwide and Shahla is a Registered
Nurse; and
WHEREAS, Shahla and Aaron Weg are the proud and loving parents of
Eliyahu and Jasmine Weg, Chaim Tzvi and Miriam, and the grandparents of
six mouth old Aryeh; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, it is appropriate to publicly proclaim and commend them for the
edification and emulation of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Aaron and Shahla Weg upon the occasion of their designation for
special recognition by OHEL Children's Home and Family Services as
Dinner Honorees at its 41st Annual Dinner on February 13, 2011; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Aaron and Shahla Weg.
