LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the South Side Innovation Center upon
the occasion of its designation as Incubator of the Year by the National
Business Incubator Association

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that the quality and
character of life in this great Empire State is indelibly enriched by
the faithful efforts of those organizations that devote their purpose to
promoting economic vitality and service the public need; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
South Side Innovation Center upon the occasion of its designation as
Incubator of the Year by the National Business Incubator Association;
and
WHEREAS, The South Side Innovation Center received this most auspi-
cious award from the 1,900-member National Business Incubator Associ-
ation at the group's annual meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Started in 2006, the South Side Innovation Center incubator
is a program of the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University;
and
WHEREAS, The South Side Innovation Center has spaces for 27 businesses
and has more than 300 entrepreneurs involved in programs; and
WHEREAS, The South Side Innovation Center practices inclusive entre-
preneurship which includes helping aspiring business owners repair their
credit ratings, deal with non-business issues that might be holding them
back, and provides practical training in human resource management,
writing a business plan and using basic accounting software; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the South Side Innovation Center, and recognizes its contributions
to the local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue
its outstanding efforts in support of small businesses; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the South Side Innovation Center upon the occasion of its desig-
nation as Incubator of the Year by the National Business Incubator Asso-
ciation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the South Side Innovation Center.
