LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION mourning the death of Barbara Ann Tully, distin-
guished citizen and devoted member of her community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Ann Tully of Chester, New York, died on Sunday,
December 19, 2010, at the age of 69; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of the late Raymond V. and Dorothy Franklin
O'Connor, Barbara Ann Tully was born in Manhattan on April 4, 1941; for
the past 30 years, she served as a Librarian for the Chester Public
Library; and
WHEREAS, A 42 year resident of the Chester area, Barbara Ann Tully
distinguished herself in her profession and by her sincere dedication
and substantial contribution to the welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Ann Tully's commitment to excellence, and her spirit
of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise, including char-
itable and civic endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Ann Tully was devoted to her family, her friends, and
to her community; in addition to working at the Library, she partic-
ipated in Scouting, taught C.C.D. at St. Columba for 25 years, and was
active in local politics; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding woman will be remembered for her energy and
kindness of spirit; her easy conversation was spurred by her genuine
interest in each person she met; in addition, she always had a story and
a smile, and if she thought she could help, she would; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Ann Tully enjoyed spending time with her family and
friends and with her grandchildren, taking pleasure in the ceaseless
activity that it brought; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her brother, William F. O'Connor, Barbara Ann
Tully is survived by her loving husband, Bill Tully; their children,
Bill (Cindy) Tully, Kathy (Jim) Higgins, Kevin (LeighAnn) Tully, and
Michael (Kelly) Tully; her four grandchildren, Brendan, Liam, Patrick
and Riley; and her sister, Dorothy (Paul) Parker, as well as numerous
nieces and nephews; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion, and comforted by a loving family, Barbara Ann Tully leaves
behind a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will
remain as a comforting memory to all she served and befriended; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Barbara Ann Tully, distinguished citizen and devoted
member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Barbara Ann Tully.
