LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION memorializing Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to
proclaim September 2012, as Chiropractic Health Month in the State of
New York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to proclaim specific
months that bring attention and awareness to important issues that
affect the lives of the people living in this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to memorialize Governor
Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim September 2012, as Chiropractic Health Month
in the State of New York, in conjunction with the first Chiropractic
adjustment in 1895; and
WHEREAS, The Chiropractic profession has been a licensed profession in
good standing in New York since 1963 when Dr. Julius Dintenfass was the
first person to be licensed in the State of New York as a Doctor of
Chiropractic; and
WHEREAS, The Chiropractic profession is an integral part of the health
care for many citizens of New York; and
WHEREAS, The Chiropractic profession has promoted the continued non-
surgery, non-drug health care of New Yorkers; and
WHEREAS, The Chiropractic profession has continually helped millions
of New Yorkers yearly to not only relieve pain, but to prevent disease
and attain greater health; and
WHEREAS, Chiropractors are independent health care professionals who
treat many conditions as they relate to the spine, emphasizing the
dependency of health on the correct functioning of the central nervous
system; and
WHEREAS, Chiropractors adjust misaligned vertebrae to restore correct
functioning of the central nerve system which controls all actions and
expressions of the human body leading to a healthier life; and
WHEREAS, The citizens of New York have enjoyed the very special care
that the profession of Chiropractic has provided; since the first licen-
sure, millions of New Yorkers yearly have sought out Chiropractic care
to not only relieve pain, but to prevent other health concerns and to
maintain greater health; and
WHEREAS, New York is proud to have the second largest amount of
licensed doctors of Chiropractic in the United States only behind Cali-
fornia; and
WHEREAS, It is in the interest of the State of New York to recognize
the achievements made and to continue these efforts by promoting and
educating the public on the importance of maintaining healthy backs and
spines; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
memorialize Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to proclaim September 2012, as
Chiropractic Health Month in the State of New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to The Honorable Andrew M. Cuomo, Governor of the State of New
York; and Dr. Robert Browne, President, New York Chiropractic Council.
