LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Hortonville Presbyterian Church upon
the occasion of celebrating its 150th Anniversary on August 1, 2010

WHEREAS, Religious institutions, and the many spiritual, social, and
educational benefits they confer, play a vital role in the development
of the moral fabric of a responsible citizenry; and
WHEREAS, It is the tradition of this State and this Nation to pay
tribute to those institutions and individuals who have contributed to
the ethical and spiritual values of their communities; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend Horton-
ville Presbyterian Church upon the occasion of celebrating its 150th
Anniversary on August 1, 2010 at the Villa Roma in Callicoon, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Hortonville Presbyterian Church, also known as the German
Presbyterian Church, was built in 1860; it is where the Hortonville
Cemetery contains the stone foundation of the original meeting house and
it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Throughout its distinguished history, the congregants of
Hortonville Presbyterian Church have been active participants within the
community, playing an important role in the history of Hortonville, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Hortonville Presbyterian Church stands on the threshold of
tomorrow, prepared to meet the challenges of the coming decades while
retaining that spiritual resolve which characterizes its past; and
WHEREAS, It is only fitting to take note of enduring religious insti-
tutions and to bring such institutions to the attention of the people of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Hortonville Presbyterian Church upon the occasion of celebrating
its 150th Anniversary on August 1, 2010; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Hortonville Presbyterian Church, 39 County Route 131, Calli-
coon, New York 12723.
