LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the Coombe Family of Thunder View
Farms, LLC upon the occasion of their designation for special recogni-
tion by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT

WHEREAS, The agricultural industry is part of the foundation upon which
our distinct American heritage is built; and
WHEREAS, New York State and the entire United States is dependent on
our agricultural industry for a variety of food products; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the Coombe Family of Thunder View Farms, LLC upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY DEMOCRAT; and
WHEREAS, In 1958, brothers Philip Jr. and Richard I. Coombe brought
the first registered Aberdeen Angus cattle to the farm on South Hill,
which had been in their family for two generations; beginning with those
first six cows, their purebred herd now numbers more than 150 head with
three herd sires and numerous yearlings and calves; members of the fifth
generation of the Coombe Family now help with farm operations; and
WHEREAS, In 2009, the Coombe Family placed a permanent conservation
easement on more than one half of their acreage to help ensure that the
land will be protected from development while providing open space and
environmental protection for New York City's water supply; and
WHEREAS, Under Philip Jr. and Richard Coombe's able leadership, Thun-
der View Farms of Grahamsville still operates with an exemplary work
ethic which has been passed down for generations; and
WHEREAS, Through their diligence and expertise, the Coombe Family has
brought pride and recognition to their farm, the local community and the
entire Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body acknowl-
edges the success of this exceptional family farm and its contributions
to the local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue
to enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Coombe Family of Thunder View Farms, LLC upon the occasion
of their designation for special recognition by the SULLIVAN COUNTY
DEMOCRAT; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Philip Jr. and Richard I. Coombe.
