LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert E. Hatfield, Jr. upon the occa-
sion of his designation by the Orange County United Way as a recipient
of a Marion S. Murphy Neighbors Helping Neighbors Award on March 17,
2011

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of organizations
and individuals who devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert E. Hatfield, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation by the
Orange County United Way as a recipient of a Marion S. Murphy Neighbors
Helping Neighbors Award on March 17, 2011, at Anthony's Pier 9 in New
Windsor, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Award is named in memory of
Marion S. Murphy, former Orange County Clerk and longtime Orange County
United Way Board member; and
WHEREAS, Each year this most prestigious award is bestowed upon an
individual or individuals whose value and concern for mankind is demon-
strated through his or her vision, leadership, services, and commitment
to the people of Orange County; and
WHEREAS, Robert Hatfield, Jr. is a former Board, Campaign, and Allo-
cations Chairperson for Orange County United Way with 42 years of volun-
teer service with the organization; and
WHEREAS, Currently, Robert Hatfield, Jr. is a Greater Southern Dutch-
ess Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman; he is also a board member of the
Newburgh Family YMCA, the Orange County Partnership, and the Newburgh
Day Nursery; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert E. Hatfield, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation by
the Orange County United Way as a recipient of a Marion S. Murphy Neigh-
bors Helping Neighbors Award; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert E. Hatfield, Jr.
