LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending John B. Rogers upon the occasion of
his designation for special honor by the Sullivan County American Legion

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, John B. Rogers has given not only of his time and energies
but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend John B.
Rogers upon the occasion of his designation for special honor by the
Sullivan County American Legion at its Annual Department Officers Visi-
tation Dinner to be held at Mr. Willy's Restaurant in Monticello, New
York, on Sunday, March 13, 2011; and
WHEREAS, A courageous Veteran of the Viet Nam War Era, John B. Rogers
served six years in the Air Force, serving Stateside and at Headquarters
3rd Air Force in England and United States Air Forces in Europe; he is a
dual member, serving over 33 years as a member of The American Legion,
Department of New York; and
WHEREAS, Currently serving as Commander of Sons of The American
Legion, John B. Rogers has also held the following offices, Squadron
Commander, Squadron Treasurer for four years, County Executive Commit-
tee, District 2 Commander, District 10 Commander, Detachment Vice
Commander for two years for Districts 2 and 10, and also served on the
Public Relations Commission; and
WHEREAS, John B. Rogers was awarded an Honorary Life Membership by
members of his Squadron; during his tenure in the Sons of The American
Legion, he helped establish the 2nd District and the Kings and Richmond
County Units; and
WHEREAS, John B. Rogers has held many esteemed positions in the Ameri-
can Legion; at the Post level he served as Vice Commander for three
years, Membership Chairman for six years, Chaplain for two years, Ways
and Means Chairman for five years, Finance Officer for two years, and
Judge Advocate for five years; and
WHEREAS, At the county level, John B. Rogers served as the 4th Divi-
sion Commander of Kings County for three years; and
WHEREAS, John B. Rogers has been called upon to contribute his time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, John B. Rogers has served his community as President of the
Local Board of Trade, Director of the Local Civic Association, member of
the New York City Community Board 18, and as member of the Lions and
Kiwanis Clubs; and
WHEREAS, John B. Rogers was employed and retired from the Human
Resources Division of the Department of Veterans Administration, and
currently owns a Gift Shoppe is his neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, John B. Rogers has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 32 years, Regina,
who feels privileged to be a part of his life and rejoices in his
achievements; both have been staunch supporters of the American Legion,
its Auxiliary, and the Sons of The American Legion; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is very pleased to have this opportu-
nity to express its gratitude to John B. Rogers and the men and women of
the United States Armed Forces for their tremendous sacrifices made for
our Nation and for the benefit of all Americans; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend John B. Rogers upon the occasion of his designation for special
honor by the Sullivan County American Legion on March 13, 2011; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to John B. Rogers.
