LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring the Wager Family upon the occasion of
their designation as recipients of the Partners in Mercy Award by the
Mercy Home for Children

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor the
Wager Family upon the occasion of their designation as recipients of the
Partners in Mercy Award by the Mercy Home for Children; this auspicious
occasion will be celebrated on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Russo's on the
Bay in Howard Beach, Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, Over the years, Mercy Home for Children has been blessed with
individuals whose belief in its mission to serve people with develop-
mental disabilities has helped the home to grow and reach out to those
in need; and
WHEREAS, The Wager family: Richard Wager, Robert Wager, Nina Wager,
Gregory Wager and Jason Wager; has been active in Mercy Home's fundrais-
ing efforts and been generous supporters of its programs for many years;
and
WHEREAS, Successfully combining business, family and charitable works,
the Wager family has created a team spirit that is a joy to witness; the
family has given the term, "it's a family affair," new meaning; and
WHEREAS, The brothers and sister combination, Richard, Robert and Nina
Wager, are founders of Wager Contracting, Brookside Painting and General
Service Investigations; each business has enjoyed enormous success,
directly related to their dedication and hard work; and
WHEREAS, The sons of Richard Wager, Gregory and Jason, are both execu-
tives in Wager Contracting; the company boasts among its major clients:
Major League Baseball, "The Apprentice" television show and myriad
hotels, churches and schools; and
WHEREAS, Brookside Painting's owner, Robert Wager, caters to financial
and municipal institutions as well as hospitals and universities,
supplying project managers and technical support that assure customer
satisfaction; and
WHEREAS, Nina Wager is the owner of General Service Investigations
which provides professional services for the legal profession and the
insurance industry; and
WHEREAS, The charitable work of the Wager family sets them apart; in
addition to their long-time generosity to the Mercy Home for Children,
they have been extraordinarily supportive of Sloane Kettering and to the
Diabetes and Brain Research foundations; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of their professional and commu-
nity service, a period of constructive involvement, the Wager Family has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor, and has earned the
respect and admiration of their colleagues, family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by individuals
for the benefit of others which the Wager Family has displayed through-
out their lives; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-

tion, they should be recognized by all the citizens of this great Empire
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor the Wager Family upon the occasion of their designation as recipi-
ents of the Partners in Mercy Award by the Mercy Home for Children; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Richard Wager, Robert Wager, Nina Wager, Gregory Wager and
Jason Wager.
