LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Burke Paddock of Warsaw High
School upon the occasion of his outstanding scholastic wrestling career
and on finishing in second place at the National High School Wrestling
Championships

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented high
school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community through
outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in fall accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Burke Paddock of Warsaw High School upon the occasion of
his outstanding scholastic wrestling career and on finishing in second
place at the National High School Wrestling Championships; and
WHEREAS, Burke Paddock, a sophomore at Warsaw High School, has
compiled a storied tradition of success in scholastic wrestling; he has
captured several national wrestling titles, winning twice in the middle
school division before winning the freshman crown in 2011 in the
171-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, In addition, in each of the last two seasons, Burke Paddock
has also won the award for Most Outstanding Wrestler within his division
at the National High School Wrestling Championships; and
WHEREAS, In 2012, Burke Paddock of Warsaw High School earned second
place in the 160-pound weight class at the annual National High School
Wrestling Championships held in Virginia Beach, Virginia; his path to
runner up honors began with a first period fall victory in the first
round, another first period pin in the second round, and an 11-2 victory
in the semi-finals, before dropping a 5-3 decision in the finals; and
WHEREAS, Burke Paddock of Warsaw High School achieved All-American
status at the 2012 National High School Wrestling Championships; and
WHEREAS, Excellence and success in competitive sports can be achieved
only through strenuous practice; Burke Paddock's dedication to wrestling
is a year-round, everyday commitment; he is highly focused and has
developed a matchless work ethic; and
WHEREAS, Burke Paddock's exemplary performance is reflective of his
dedication, determination and personal commitment; his achievements
stand as a hallmark of what is best in the families, schools and commu-
nities across New York State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Burke Paddock of Warsaw High School upon the occasion of
his outstanding scholastic wrestling career and on finishing in second
place at the National High School Wrestling Championships, and to
commend him for the enduring honor he has brought to his family, his
school and his community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Burke Paddock.
