LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Father Terence Patrick Healy upon the
occasion of the celebration of his Golden Jubilee and his retirement
after 50 years of faithful service to his churches throughout New York
WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
the Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who commit their energies and
purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to individuals who distinguish themselves and
the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Father
Terence Patrick Healy upon the occasion of the celebration of the 50th
Anniversary of his ordination and his retirement after 50 years of
service to the Catholic church; and
WHEREAS, Father Healy will be honored at Saint Joseph's the Worker
Church in West Winfield, New York, where he is currently the pastor, on
Sunday, June 17, 2012, with a Mass in his honor followed by a reception
in the parish center; and
WHEREAS, Father Healy was born on July 24, 1936 in Dublin, Ireland,
the only child of Francis and Eileen Healy; his home parish was the
Assumption of the Vestal Virgin Mary; and
WHEREAS, He attended the Lord of Covent School in Dalkey, Christian
Brothers School in Duniaoghaire, Mt. St. Joseph's College - Roscrea in
County Tipperary, and St. John's College and Seminary in Waterford,
County Waterford; and
WHEREAS, He was ordained to the Holy Priesthood of Jesus Christ by
Bishop Daniel Coholan at the Cathedral of St. Catechism on June 17,
1962; and
WHEREAS, Father Healy's priestly assignments have included associate
pastor at St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet, New York; St. Gabriel the
Archangel Church in Rotterdam; St. Peter's and Paul's Church in Canajo-
harie; St. Helen's Church in Schenectady; and Annunciation Church in
Ilion; and
WHEREAS, From July 4, 1985-2009, Father Healy was the pastor of St.
Joseph's Church in West Winfield; he has been the chaplain of the West
Winfield Fire Department since 1990; from 1997-2009, he served as the
sacramental minister at St. Joseph's Church in Richfield Springs; and
from 2009 to the present he has ably served Richfield Springs and West
Winfield as pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Parish; and
WHEREAS, Father Terence Patrick Healy has brought to his ministry an
overwhelming spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and
enlightenment in conducting his administrative and spiritual duties,
while always displaying the highest standards of personal and profes-
sional integrity and dedication; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given enlightenment,
guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has adminis-
tered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal needs of
all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Father Terence Patrick Healy upon the occasion of the cele-
bration of the 50th Anniversary of his ordination and his retirement
after 50 years of dedicated service to his churches, noting his unremit-
ting and compassionate faith and his exemplary service to God, man, and
his community, and extending to him the heartfelt best wishes of this
Legislative Body; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Father Terence Patrick Healy.
