LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Winifred B. Mack upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the YMCA Boulton Center for
the Performing Arts
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize that the
quality and character of life in the communities across New York State
are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those organiza-
tions and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the
community and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Winifred B. Mack upon the occasion of her designation for special recog-
nition by the YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday,
May 7, 2011; and
WHEREAS, The YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts of the Great
South Bay YMCA seeks to establish itself as a premier cultural institu-
tion on Long Island; the YMCA Boulton Center's mission is to provide
high quality arts programs that entertain, educate and inspire the
culturally, racially and economically diverse population of Long Island;
a wide range of programs and classes are offered across the arts spec-
trum including music, dance, film and spoken word and particular empha-
sis is placed on education and outreach; and
WHEREAS, Winifred B. Mack, RN, BSN, MPA is the Executive Director of
Southside Hospital, a member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System; in
this role, she has overcome financial challenges, strengthened physician
and community relationships as well as built and expanded clinical
programs to fortify Southside's position as the healthcare heart of its
community; prior to becoming the Executive Director, she served as
Southside Hospital's Deputy Executive and Vice President of Patient
Services; and
WHEREAS, Before joining the Southside Hospital team in January of
2005, Winifred Mack was the Chief Nurse Executive and Associate Execu-
tive Director at both Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream and Syosset
Hospital; she has held a number of high-level administrative and nursing
positions at Continuum Health Partners in New York City, Winthrop
University Hospital in Mineola, Nassau University Medical Center in East
Meadow and Stony Brook University Hospital; and
WHEREAS, Winifred Mack was instrumental in facilitating Long Island's
transplantation services; she testified before the United States
Congress in support of the National Organ Transplant Act (NOTA); she
earned her master's degree in public administration and a Bachelor of
Science degree from Long Island University's C.W. Post College; she also
received her associate degree from Nassau County Community College; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband, Bill, and their
son, Patrick, both of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Winifred Mack's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Winifred B. Mack upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Winifred B. Mack.
