WHEREAS, The Clarence Clubhouse Restoration Committee (CCRC) was
established by Clarence Town Supervisor Kathleen Hallock in 2004; after
an open house with Doors Open Niagara, in 2003, she realized that many

WHEREAS, Shortly afterwards, Kathleen Hallock invited representatives
from various organizations that use the clubhouse to meet and discuss
plans for its renovation, rejuvenation and restoring; and
WHEREAS, Since the Committee's inception, many improvements have been
accomplished with the help of many local organizations, citizens, and
help from area businesses; in addition, various upgrades have been
provided by the town and the parks department; and
WHEREAS, Other major aesthetic improvement projects have been the
reupholstering and refinishing of the original furniture, and adding
carpeting, painting as well as new curtains; the creation and frame
installation of the Bicentennial Quilt was a major addition to the main
room by the Clarence Log Cabin Quilters; and
WHEREAS, Since the purchase of the building and grounds in 1957 by the
Town of Clarence, from the Automobile Club of Buffalo, the Clarence Town
Park Clubhouse has served as an important town landmark that functions
as a symbol of its great heritage and serves as a central meeting place
for many community activities; in 2011, the Town of Clarence will cele-
brate this special landmark by hosting a Centennial Celebration in
conjunction with Day in the Park on July 2; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when organiza-
tions of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Clarence Clubhouse Restoration Committee upon the occasion
of their designation as recipient of the 2011 Organization of the Year
