LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello, F.A.C.S.
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
Westchester County Medical Center

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello has given not only of his time
and energies but also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Augustine
L. Moscatello upon the occasion of his designation for special recogni-
tion by the Westchester County Medical Center at its Annual Gala at 7
World Trade Center in New York, New York, on Saturday, June 11, 2011;
and
WHEREAS, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello began his tenure at Westchester
County Medical Center in 1987, after finishing his Residency in Otolar-
yngology Head and Neck Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center; and
WHEREAS, In 1992, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello was appointed Director
of the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and since
that time has played a valuable role in the advancement of Westchester
County Medical Center in its mission to provide world class medicine to
the citizens of Westchester County and the Hudson Valley; and
WHEREAS, As a result of Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello's leadership, the
Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery has become one of the
busiest surgical services at the Medical Center year after year; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello continues to introduce new surgi-
cal techniques such as Minimally Invasive Thyroid and Para-Thyroid
surgery, and Balloon Sinusplasty, and will soon begin Robotic Trans Oral
Surgery at the Medical Center; in addition, with his guidance the
Medical Center established a full service Balance Center for the diagno-
sis and treatment of Vestibular Conditions; and
WHEREAS, As a Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology and Vice Chair of
the Department at New York Medical College, Dr. Augustine L.
Moscatello's efforts have had a direct impact on the young minds and the
skills of the next generation of surgeons entrusted to him, as well as
his colleagues, as they pass through the Medical Center's Residency
Program; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello has been called upon to contrib-
ute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and
has always given of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello has become extremely active in
lending his surgical skills to the medical missions sponsored by the
organization "Healing the Children," a program in which he travels to
Peru, Colombia, Cuba, and Vietnam, along with other dedicated physi-
cians, nurses and technicians, to provide corrective surgery for pedia-
tric patients suffering from the common congenital condition know as
cleft palate; and
WHEREAS, These life changing procedures serve to improve the lives of
some young people who otherwise would never have had the opportunity or
the resources in their native lands to have it done; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello has
stood constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Those individuals, who have given so selflessly of their
skills and dedication, are worthy and due full recognition for their
valued contributions on behalf of their country and its ideals, uphold-

ing the patriotic character and principled ideals of individuals in
service to their fellowman; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello upon the occasion of his designation
for special recognition; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Augustine L. Moscatello, F.A.C.S.
