LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Senior Chief Jared K. Tuxill upon the
occasion of his designation as a recipient of a Silver Star from the
United States Navy

WHEREAS, The courage and bravery of our military personnel will ensure
our continued role as a Nation which embodies the ideals of democracy,
and as a defender of liberty for people throughout the world; and
WHEREAS, Members of the Armed Services from the State of New York, who
have so valiantly served this Nation and State, deserve a special salute
from this Legislative Body; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Senior Chief Jared K. Tuxill upon the occasion of his designation as a
recipient of a Silver Star from the United States Navy at a ceremony
held on February 11, 2011, at the Naval Special Warfare commands in
Coronado, California; and
WHEREAS, Son of Dick and Monta Faye Tuxill, Senior Chief Jared K.
Tuxill is a graduate of Auburn High School and SUNY Maritime Academy;
after graduation he worked as a civilian for the Military Sealift
Command and was chosen to attend the first Joint Special Operations
Forces Senior Enlisted Academy in January of 2010; and
WHEREAS, As Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator of the United States
Navy, Jared K. Tuxill has displayed great honor, unwavering courage, and
exemplary valor and consequently has been designated as a recipient of
one of the military's highest honors, the Silver Star; and
WHEREAS, Senior Chief Jared Tuxill provided exceptional combat leader-
ship while assigned to a Joint Task Force in support of Operation Endur-
ing Freedom from August 2-15, 2009; despite being wounded himself, he
selflessly assisted in transferring the wounded members of his team to
safety, undoubtedly saving their lives; and
WHEREAS, Senior Chief Jared Tuxill's unyielding leadership, courageous
actions, and total dedication to duty reflected credit upon him and were
in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval
Service; and
WHEREAS, The military men and women, such as Senior Chief Jared
Tuxill, who serve us so well and who often stand in harm's way do so to
maintain our role as the leader of the free world; they are the true
defenders of democracy and democratic ideals; and
WHEREAS, The banner of freedom will always wave over our beloved New
York and all of America, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave;
and
WHEREAS, Residents of this great State must never forget the courage
with which these men and women serve their country, and must recognize
that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who risk their
lives for their beloved Nation; and
WHEREAS, The freedoms and security we cherish as Americans come at a
very high price for those serving in the military in times of conflict;
it is fitting and proper that we, who are the beneficiaries of the cour-
age of those who risk their lives, leaving their families behind,
express our appreciation and eternal gratitude for their sacrifices and
courageous acts; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Senior Chief Jared K. Tuxill upon the occasion of his designation
as a recipient of a Silver Star from the United States Navy; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Senior Chief Jared K. Tuxill.
