LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Sheldon S. Ornstein upon the occa-
sion of his 50th Anniversary in the practice of law
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those individuals
whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to enhance the stat-
ure of the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Sheldon S. Ornstein upon the occasion of his 50th Anniversary in
the practice of law, to be celebrated at his 84th birthday party on
Friday, May 17, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Sheldon Ornstein was admitted to the bar in 1958; he has
devoted his entire career to the prosecution of personal injury and
medical malpractice cases and became interested in malpractice after his
wife, who was diabetic, lost their child at term due to mismanagement of
diabetes; and
WHEREAS, Sheldon Ornstein has worked hand in hand with many of the
most prominent malpractice attorneys over the last five decades, includ-
ing Alfred Julian, Samuel Gold, Leonard Finz, Thomas Moore, Fred Quel-
ler, Richard Shandel, and many other luminaries in that particular
field; his participation in complex cases has always been characterized
by his deep personal involvement at all stages, along with his ongoing
consultation with the clients and other firms involved; and
WHEREAS, Sheldon Ornstein has frequently been deeply involved in
developing strategies and formulating plans with regard to complex liti-
gation, including malpractice litigation; he has devoted an enormous
amount of time to local community television outreach informing them
about their legal rights in malpractice and personal injury matters; and
WHEREAS, Sheldon Ornstein still plays handball three times a week, and
prides himself on being in his office six days a week in order to
personally address the needs of the members of the local community; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Sheldon Ornstein's distinguished
record merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative
Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Sheldon S. Ornstein upon the occasion of his 50th Anniver-
sary in the practice of law; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sheldon S. Ornstein.
