LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending Community Concern Network, Inc. upon
the occasion of hosting its 10th Annual Brooklyn Salutes Award Ceremony
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of this noble Empire
State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
Community Concern Network, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its 10th
Annual Brooklyn Salutes Award Ceremony on Saturday, June 1, 2013, in
Brooklyn, New York; and
WHEREAS, The award recipients include: Edgar Daley, By-Ways & Hedges
YFC-Pastor; Alex Lewis, Alex Enterprise; Crystal Henry, Wellcare; Olive
Kennedy, By-Ways & Hedges; Devon Lumsden, New York Life; Glen Lawrence,
Pastor of Mt. Carmel Worship Center; Rita Brown, Journalist; Janice
Jenkins, Entrepreneur of C&J Restaurant; Huntley Rattray, Community
Pioneer; Rita Harriot, Regional Director of McDonald's; Linval
Hendricks, Bishop of Church of God of Prophecy; Carnetta Andrews, Evan-
gelist; Verona Goulbourne, Evangelist; Derrick Allen, Pastor; Carlton
Rhooms, CEO and Manager of Talent Under One Roof; Lawrence Oni, Celes-
tial Church; and Wanda Figurora, Affinity Health Plan; and
WHEREAS, Community Concern Network, Inc. (CCN) is a not-for-profit
community-based organization whose aim is to enhance and enrich the
lives of its community members through its immigration, domestic
violence, youth training programs and so forth; and
WHEREAS, CCN is the community outreach division of the By-Ways and
Hedges Youth for Christ Ministry, Inc.; while the church seeks to meet
the spiritual needs of its community, CCN focuses on the basic every day
needs that necessitate human survival, along with the overall health and
safety of all families in New York City; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned our
recognition and applause; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Community Concern Network, Inc. upon the occasion of hosting its
10th Annual Brooklyn Salutes Award Ceremony; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Terry Lee, Executive Director, and to the aforemen-
tioned honorees.
