LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sara Telban upon the occasion of being
named Teacher of the Year by the Schenectady City School District Educa-
tional Foundation, Inc.

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their profes-
sion; and
WHEREAS, Sara Telban will be recognized as Teacher of the Year by the
Schenectady City School District Educational Foundation, Inc. during its
annual Education Celebration to be held at the Stockade Inn on January
16, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Sara is a graduate of Russell Sage College and the College of
St. Rose; and
WHEREAS, She began her successful career with the Schenectady City
School District in 1998 as a teacher in the high school's Special Educa-
tion Social/Emotion Program; and
WHEREAS, Sara currently teaches ELA to students with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, She is also an advisor to the high school's Power of Peace
program, a conflict resolution and anti-violence program; and
WHEREAS, Sara is an active member of the Schenectady Federation of
Teachers; and
WHEREAS, She has been a dedicated Girl Scout Leader for five years;
and
WHEREAS, Sara also contributes her time to the Burnt Hills-Ballston
Lake Central School District as a PTA officer, recreational basketball
coach, and Booster Club member; and
WHEREAS, She has exhibited the true spirit of the prestigious Teacher
of the Year award through her tireless dedication to her students,
school, and community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sara Telban as she is recognized as Teacher of the Year by the
Schenectady City School District Educational Foundation, Inc.; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sara Telban.
