LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Willie M. Dean, Jr., upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of a President's Award by the Capital
District YMCA

WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging its
esteemed residents who have distinguished themselves in their community;
and
WHEREAS, Willie M. Dean, Jr. will be honored by the Capital District
YMCA with its President's Award during a dinner at the Albany Marriott
on April 22, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Willie was selected for this prestigious honor by the Sche-
nectady YMCA; and
WHEREAS, He earned a bachelors degree in engineering at the University
of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, and a masters in Industrial Management
from Union College; and
WHEREAS, Willie served his country with honor for two years in the
United States Army; and
WHEREAS, He enjoyed a successful 40-year civilian career with General
Electric (GE), including its Manufacturing Management Program, Instru-
ment Department, Motor and Locomotive Department, and Overseas Business;
and
WHEREAS, Willie utilized YMCA residences early in his training and
career; and
WHEREAS, He earned 19 GE Merit and Management Awards, including recog-
nition for his public speaking, before leaving GE in 1997; and
WHEREAS, Willie then began a 10-year tenure with Fort Wayne Industrial
Systems; and
WHEREAS, He returned to Schenectady in 2007, and is currently Presi-
dent and CEO of Assured Systems Kompliance, Inc. and Business Manager
for his son's company, Ain't No Competition, LLC; and
WHEREAS, Willie has been active with the GE Elfun Society and several
other professional organizations, including the Opportunity Industrial-
ization Center, where he taught math to those who were not, for various
reasons, in a public or private school; and
WHEREAS, He is also renowned for his talent as a blues singer and
musician; and
WHEREAS, Willie and his wife, Sue, are the proud parents of three sons
and the loving grandparents of several grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, He has exhibited the true spirit of this prestigious award
through his contributions to the community and impressive professional
success; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Willie M. Dean, Jr. upon the occasion of his designation as recip-
ient of a President's Award by the Capital District YMCA; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Willie M. Dean, Jr.
