LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending The Reverend Marie Bernard upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by The Work of
Salvation Ministries

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend The Reverend
Marie Bernard upon the occasion of her designation for special recogni-
tion by The Work of Salvation Ministries, Hollis, New York; the achieve-
ments of this faithful woman were celebrated at her 70th Birthday Appre-
ciation Day, on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Gateway World Christian
Center in Valley Stream, New York; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marie Bernard has brought to her ministry an overwhelming
spirit of charity and compassion, acting from vision and enlightenment
in conducting her administrative and spiritual duties, while always
displaying the highest standards of personal and professional integrity
and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Marie Bernard was born on March 8, 1944, in Port-De-Paix,
Haiti, and migrated to the United States in 1972; she received a bach-
elor's degree in nursing from Charles E. Gregory Raritan Bay Medical
Center, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, and worked for the Visiting Nurse
Service of New York for more than twenty-five years; and
WHEREAS, When she was called to the ministry in 1979, Dr. Marie
Bernard earned a bachelor's degree from Macedonia University, and
received an honorary doctoral degree in ministry from Anointing of God
Bible College; since then, she has worked in multiple ministerial and
leadership capacities; as an international evangelist pastor and counse-
lor, she has conducted numerous evangelical crusades, gospel concerts,
women's conferences, youth meetings and leadership conferences through-
out the United States, Canada, the Middle East, Africa and the West
Indies; and
WHEREAS, In 1995 Dr. Marie Bernard established The Work of Salvation
Ministries in Queens Village, New York, where she is the overseer; in
addition, this extraordinary spiritual leader assists local churches in
organizing around health education, and takes time to visit correctional
facilities to minister to inmates and prison guards, as well as homeless
shelters, hospitals, and nursing homes; she has also successfully set up
missionary medical teams with different charity organizations to assist
the poor and needy throughout the world, especially in Haiti; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Elmont, New York, Dr. Marie Bernard has been
accompanied throughout by her devoted sons, Jean and Edmunds, who feel
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished woman of God has always given enlight-
enment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and has
administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and corporal
needs of all; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend The Reverend Marie Bernard upon the occasion of her designation
for special recognition by The Work of Salvation Ministries, noting her
unremitting and compassionate faith and her exemplary service to God,
humanity, and her community, and extending to her the heartfelt best
wishes of this Legislative Body for a future of purposeful success and
well-being; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Dr. Marie Bernard.
