LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Ray Makowski upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Pride of Rosendale Award by the Town of
Rosendale, New York

WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the compassion
of good Samaritans, who uphold the values of community life and who,
through their great actions, epitomize the best of humanity; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend the concerned and heroic acts of those citizens who would volun-
tarily take immediate action to protect the safety of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ray
Makowski upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Pride
of Rosendale Award by the Town of Rosendale, New York; he was recognized
at a Town Board meeting on Wednesday, March 12, 2014; and
WHEREAS, Ray Makowski received this auspicious honor for providing
police with information which led to the arrest of an individual accused
of burglarizing a home; and
WHEREAS, Ray Makowski observed a suspicious vehicle and individual in
the driveway of a neighbor's home; without thinking of his safety, he
confronted the individual, getting his license plate number and other
identifying information; and
WHEREAS, This brave man contacted his town police, who in turn put a
call out to other law enforcement agencies to watch for the vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Ray Makowski's quick and astute actions allowed the burglar
to be apprehended quickly, and some of his neighbor's property to be
recovered; and
WHEREAS, Through his voluntary response as a concerned citizen,
committed to safeguarding the safety and welfare of his neighbors and
community, Ray Makowski has unselfishly contributed to the advancement
of that spirit of united purpose and shared concern which is the corner-
stone of community life in this State and Nation; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ray Makowski upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Pride of Rosendale Award by the Town of Rosendale, New York; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Ray Makowski.
