LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Mike Egotanda of Vestal High
School upon the occasion of capturing the New York State Indoor Track
and Field Men's Long Jump Championship

WHEREAS, Athletic competition enhances the moral and physical develop-
ment of the young people of this State, preparing them for the future by
instilling in them the value of teamwork, encouraging a standard of
healthy living, imparting a desire for success and developing a sense of
fair play and competition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body takes pleasure in honoring talented
high school athletes who distinguish themselves and their community
through outstanding athletic performance; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, it is the intent of this Legislative Body to
congratulate Mike Egotanda, a senior at Vestal High School upon the
occasion of capturing the New York State Indoor Track and Field Men's
Long Jump Championship; and
WHEREAS, On Saturday, March 1, 2014, Mike Egotanda, a senior at Vestal
High School, won the State Long Jump Title with a distance of 22 feet,
1.75 inches at the NYSPHAA Indoor Track and Field Long Jump Champion-
ships at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York; and
WHEREAS, Sports competition instills the values of teamwork, pride and
accomplishment; Mike Egotanda's outstanding performance has clearly made
a contribution to the spirit of excellence which is a tradition of his
school; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, this
exemplary athlete now stands honorably, with just pride in his accom-
plishments and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding
and appreciating the caring counsel and support provided by his coaches,
teachers, and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Mike Egotanda of Vestal High School upon the occasion of
capturing the New York State Indoor Track and Field Men's Long Jump
Championship, and to wish him continued success in all of his future
endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Mike Egotanda.
