LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Tynes upon the
occasion of her designation for special recognition by the Ambassador
for Christ International Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center,
on Sunday, May 4, 2014

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life in
this noble Empire State are nourished and fulfilled through the faithful
concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their energies
and purpose to the ministry of others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to bring full recog-
nition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish themselves
and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and preeminence of
service; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Reverend Gwen-
dolyn Mason-Tynes upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the Ambassador For Christ International Outreach Ministry
and Gateway Christian Center at its 4th Annual Pastors and Women of
Distinction Appreciation Awards Gala on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Floral
Terrace, Floral Park, New York; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Tynes is being recognized for her
exemplary work and commitment to her community, which serves to empower
others; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Tynes is Associate Minister at the
Rescue Baptist Church in New York City where she was ordained, and where
she conducts a mid-week ministry called "Sundays Are Not Enough"; her
many ministerial associations include the Baptist Ministers Conference
of New York and Greater Vicinity, as well as the International Associ-
ation of Ministers' Wives and Ministers' Widows, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Types was born in Selma, Alabama,
and relocated to New York City; she holds a bachelor's degree in Health
Care Administration from Herbert H. Lehman College, CUNY, and an LPN
certificate from the New York City Board of Education; this devoted
woman of God undertook her religious education at the New York School of
the Bible, where she completed four certificate programs, and completed
her studies at Manhattan Bible Institute; and
WHEREAS, A woman of many hats, Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Tynes is the
owner and proprietor of Lamb's Christian Bookstore, and is an active
member of the National Action Network, the National Association of
Professional Women, and the Association for the Study of African Ameri-
can Life and History; wife of the late Reverend Harry J. Tynes, she is
also a devoted mother, foster parent, and informal child care provider;
and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that indi-
vidual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Tynes upon the occasion of her desig-
nation for special recognition by the Ambassador For Christ Interna-
tional Outreach Ministry and Gateway Christian Center, on Sunday, May 4,
2014, noting her unremitting and compassionate faith, and her exemplary
service to God, humanity, and her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Reverend Gwendolyn Mason-Tynes.
