LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION commending the New York State Pollution
Prevention Institute upon the occasion of hosting this year's Earth Day
Event and Student Competition Exhibition on April 22, 2014
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those organizations and persons dedicating their purposeful
work to increasing public awareness of, and appreciation for, the
natural resources of New York, recognizing the role all citizens have in
protecting the environment and the quality of life in this Empire State;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to commend
the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute upon the occasion of
hosting this year's Earth Day Event and Student Competition Exhibition
on April 22, 2014; and
WHEREAS, The New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I)
provides statewide, comprehensive and integrated programming in technol-
ogy research, development and diffusion, training and education aimed at
making New York State more sustainable for workers, the public, the
environment and the economy; and
WHEREAS, NYSP2I, located at Rochester Institute of Technology, was
created in 2008 by New York State and is funded through the NYS Depart-
ment of Environmental Conservation; and
WHEREAS, NYSP2I has developed a K - 12 Student Poster Competition to
highlight current sustainability efforts of New York State schools,
share these ideas and best practices with the community and discuss
opportunities for expanding these initiatives; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute upon the occa-
sion of hosting this year's Earth Day Event and Student Competition
Exhibition on April 22, 2014; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute.
