LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Michael Ryan upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2014 Third Age Achievement Award in
Business by Senior Services of Albany

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve the
best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration and
cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ryan has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special recognition; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Michael Ryan
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2014 Third Age
Achievement Award in Business by Senior Services of Albany, to be cele-
brated at its 18th Annual Third Age Achievement Awards luncheon on
Friday, May 2, 2014, at Wolfert's Roost Country Club, Albany, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Glass Lake resident Michael Ryan is the owner of Modern Press
Graphic Design and Print Company in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, For 56 years, Michael Ryan has been at the helm of this fami-
ly enterprise; an Albany institution, Modern Press Graphic Design and
Print Company has provided a wide range of printed materials to scores
of businesses and organizations, large and small, for generations; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ryan began working at Modern Press alongside his
father when he was only nine years old, and was keenly interested in
learning every facet of the business; after taking off six years to
serve his country in the United States Navy, he returned to the company,
introducing the business to a new technology called off-set printing;
and
WHEREAS, This astute business leader is well-known throughout his
community for his positive, problem-solving attitude, as well as his
commitment to quality work and exceptional customer service; and
WHEREAS, Michael Ryan has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 40 years, Helen, as
well as their children and grandchildren, all of whom feel privileged to
be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Michael Ryan has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Michael Ryan has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Michael Ryan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2014 Third Age Achievement Award in Business by Senior Services of
Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Michael Ryan.
