LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring David Kaufman upon the occasion of his
induction into the Monticello Central School District's inaugural Hall
of Distinction on November 3, 2013

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
outstanding individuals whose professional lives, personal endeavors and
community service are an example and inspiration to their colleagues,
friends, and family; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
David Kaufman upon the occasion of his induction into the Monticello
Central School District's inaugural Hall of Distinction celebrated at a
ceremony held in the school's Arnold Packer Hughes Auditorium on Sunday,
November 3, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Hall of Distinction was established in 2012 by the Board
of Education to honor graduates or attendees, or former teachers or
staff members who have made a lasting and outstanding contribution to
society upon graduating or leaving the Monticello Central School
District; and
WHEREAS, David Kaufman is a graduate of Monticello High School, Class
of 1947; and
WHEREAS, Dedicated public official, volunteer and inspired humanitari-
an, David Kaufman is a lifetime resident of Sullivan County; he served
nearly 40 years in numerous lead roles including Supervisor for the Town
of Thompson, C.E.O. of the Monticello Housing Authority, Chairman and
member of the Sullivan County Board of Supervisors, President of the New
York State Association of Counties, Mayor of the Village of Monticello
and Trustee for the Village of Monticello; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious career, David Kaufman has been the
recipient of numerous awards and distinctions honoring his decades of
compassionate self-sacrifice and commitment to helping the citizens of
Monticello find a better way of life; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which David Kaufman has displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor David Kaufman upon the occasion of his induction into the Monti-
cello Central School District's inaugural Hall of Distinction; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to David Kaufman.
