LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION congratulating Roslyn High School DECA upon the
occasion of its designation for Gold Certification by the School Busi-
ness Enterprise Certification Program
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to commend and pay
tribute to those young people who, by achieving outstanding success in
educational and extra-curricular activities, have inspired and brought
pride to our majestic Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to congratu-
late Roslyn High School DECA upon the occasion of its designation for
Gold Certification by the School Business Enterprise Certification
Program; and
WHEREAS, DECA, previously known as Distributive Education Clubs of
America, was established in 1946 with the goal of preparing students for
careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management around the
globe; and
WHEREAS, The School Business Enterprise (SBE) program establishes
standards for model school store operations and recognizes outstanding
achievement in DECA stores; and
WHEREAS, Roslyn High School DECA was one of only two schools in New
York State chosen for this prestigious honor; it is one of only 221 such
organizations nationwide; and
WHEREAS, The student-operators of Roslyn High School DECA include:
Emily Hason, Jerry Li and Jared Faust; and
WHEREAS, The business acumen displayed by these young entrepreneurs is
due in great part to the efforts of Business Teacher, Sally Kaufman, a
skilled and inspirational tutor, respected for her ability to develop
potential into excellence; and
WHEREAS, Educational organizations which serve to better prepare our
students for their future participation in the marketplace of ideas are
worthy of praise and support; and
WHEREAS, Poised eagerly with enthusiasm and determined purpose, these
scholars now stand honorably, with just pride in their accomplishments
and in eager anticipation of future challenges, understanding and appre-
ciating the caring counsel and support provided by their teachers,
mentors and parents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Roslyn High School DECA upon the occasion of its desig-
nation for Gold Certification by the School Business Enterprise Certif-
ication Program; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the aforementioned students of the Roslyn High School DECA,
and Business Teacher, Sally Kaufman.
