LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Taylor Rohan upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Student Award by the Capital District
YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those young people within the great Empire State who have
made strong contributions to their communities and who serve as role
models for their peers; and
WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to act, in accord
with its long-standing traditions, honoring the youth of today, and
leaders of tomorrow, whose character and achievements best exemplify the
ideals and values cherished by this great State and Nation; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Taylor Rohan
upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the Student Award
by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem branches to be
celebrated at its 17th Annual Outstanding Student and Educator ceremony
on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Appel Inn in Altamont, New York; and
WHEREAS, A junior at Bethlehem Central High School, Taylor Rohan is a
volunteer member of the Town of Bethlehem Youth Court, which is a judi-
cial organization that holds trials for first time juvenile offenders;
and
WHEREAS, In order to participate in the program, Taylor Rohan success-
fully completed 20 hours of training which covered areas such as the
roles and responsibilities of court officers, law enforcement, rules of
evidence, penal law, and victim rights; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Taylor Rohan participates in two trials per
month, and has held numerous roles during the trials including: judge,
prosecuting attorney, jury foreperson, court clerk, and victim advocate;
and
WHEREAS, With his sense of civic duty and his commitment to others,
Taylor Rohan represents the best development of the potential which is
inherent in our most precious resource, our youth; and
WHEREAS, This occasion presents an opportunity for this Legislative
Body to wish Taylor Rohan continued success throughout his school years
and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Taylor Rohan upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Student Award by the Capital District YMCA Guilderland and Bethlehem
branches; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Taylor Rohan.
