LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert Dalaba upon the occasion of being
selected as Warren County's 2014 Senior Citizen of the Year

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to
the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their past
contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and valuable
asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Robert Dalaba
upon the occasion of being selected as Warren County's 2014 Senior Citi-
zen of the Year in recognition of his outstanding contributions to his
community through his valuable and much appreciated volunteer work; and
WHEREAS, As Warren County's 2014 Senior Citizen of the Year, Robert
Dalaba will participate in the Annual New York State Senior Citizens Day
Luncheon hosted by the State Office for the Aging (SOFA) at the Hart
Theatre Lounge in the Egg, Albany, New York, on Tuesday, May 6, 2014;
and
WHEREAS, Robert Dalaba is a native of Warren County; New York; he grew
up in Warrensburg and has lived in his Queensbury home since 1959; and
WHEREAS, Robert Dalaba retired from his profession as a tractor trail-
er driver in September of 2004, and was bored with retirement by January
2005; at that point he saw a newspaper appeal for volunteer drivers,
responded the same day, and has been delivering meals to homebound
seniors ever since; and
WHEREAS, A dedicated volunteer, Robert Dalaba is the first one to
arrive at the meal site Monday through Friday, rain or shine, and the
last one to leave at the end of the day; this tireless man arranges,
packs, and distributes the coolers to the appropriate route, then he
does a route of his own; and
WHEREAS, Robert Dalaba is always available to take on volunteer work
to lighten another's load; in addition to delivering meals every day,
this compassionate man also transports seniors to medical appointments;
and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Robert Dalaba's distinguished record
merits the recognition and respectful tribute of this Legislative Body;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Dalaba upon the occasion of being selected as Warren Coun-
ty's 2014 Senior Citizen of the Year; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert Dalaba.
