LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Sandy Belden upon the occasion of her
retirement from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department after 33 years
of distinguished service
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
significant milestones in the distinguished careers of esteemed resi-
dents of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, It is, furthermore, incumbent upon the people of the State of
New York to recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have
made significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Sandy Belden
upon the occasion of her retirement from the Jefferson County Sheriff's
Department after 33 years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, For 33 years, Sandy Belden served as secretary to six Jeffer-
son County Sheriffs, including Alfred O'Neill, Franklin Gowing, Donald
Petit, Donald Newberry, James Lafferty, and John Burns; and
WHEREAS, In the important role of secretary, Sandy Belden provided
support and guidance to each Sheriff in office; and
WHEREAS, Sandy Belden's exemplary work ethic and consistent willing-
ness to go the extra mile earned the admiration, esteem and affection of
her colleagues; and
WHEREAS, Due to Sandy Belden's extraordinary diligence and dedication
to her career, each Sheriff, as well as those who served under them,
were given the support necessary to protect and serve residents of
Jefferson County; and
WHEREAS, An individual who has truly gone above and beyond to serve
her community, Sandy Belden has made a difference not only in the
Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, but in the North Country region
as a whole; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when individ-
uals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our atten-
tion, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens of
the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sandy Belden upon the occasion of her retirement from the Jeffer-
son County Sheriff's Department after 33 years of distinguished service;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Sandy Belden.
