LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Tracey Ranieri upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Under Armour Athletic Director of the
Year Award by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of
Athletics

WHEREAS, New York State's commitment to education is unparalleled; its
history and stature are secured by the superlative caliber of its educa-
tional professionals and the student-athletes they inspire; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to acknowledge the
distinguished careers of those outstanding educational leaders, whose
dedication and achievements have been instrumental in developing charac-
ter and athletic excellence in the young people of New York State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Tracey Ranieri upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year Award by the National Associ-
ation of Collegiate Directors of Athletics to be celebrated at its 49th
Annual Convention on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in Orlando, Florida; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award recognizes the efforts of athletic
directors for their commitment and positive contributions to student
athletes, campuses, and surrounding communities; Tracey Ranieri is one
such individual; and
WHEREAS, Tracey Ranieri is in her eighth year as SUNY Oneonta's
athletic director; she has worked at SUNY Oneonta for 22 years, includ-
ing 16 years as the women's soccer coach; and
WHEREAS, As SUNY Oneonta's athletic director, Tracey Ranieri oversees
and supports a staff of more than 20 full-time coaches and athletic
trainers, and nearly 460 student athletes in 21 different sports; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Tracey Ranieri manages a budget and facilities,
schedules over 400 competitions per year, travels to competitions, holds
meetings, keeps track of athletes' eligibility, and works with other
campus staff to support overall student experience; and
WHEREAS, The commitment to academic success as a first priority is
woven into the fabric of SUNY Oneonta; Tracey Ranieri makes it her
mission to have the experiences of student athletes be that of a student
first, and athlete second; and
WHEREAS, A tremendous leader and advocate for athletics locally,
regionally, and nationally, Tracey Ranieri also serves on the Division
III Management Council, which develops legislation that shapes the divi-
sion; she is in her second year of a four-year term for this position;
and
WHEREAS, Tracey Ranieri has helped guide SUNY Oneonta's student
athletes in many academic pursuits, winning numerous conference champi-
onships, and having students named All-Americans; and
WHEREAS, Tracey Ranieri is the recipient of numerous awards and acco-
lades including the esteemed SUNY Chancellor's Award for her excellence
in professional service, and the City of Oneonta Trailblazer Award by
the Commission on Community Relations and Human Rights; and
WHEREAS, Tracey Ranieri's commitment to fostering the development of
student athletes, not only in their sports, but as scholars and contrib-
utors to the community beyond SUNY Oneonta's campus proves her as a role
model; and
WHEREAS, Athletic directors like Tracey Ranieri provide a tremendous
service to the future of our state and nation, inspiring generations of
young people in their athletic journeys and ensuring their success in
their future years; and

WHEREAS, Tracey Ranieri has clearly had an enduring impact on the
youth of SUNY Oneonta, as well as on the community-at-large, and accord-
ingly merits recognition and applause for her impressive dedication to
others; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of those individuals who work to support our proud tradition of
college education by providing their skills and talents to our schools;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tracey Ranieri upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year Award by the National
Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, and for her signif-
icant contributions to education in New York State; and to wish her
continued success in all of her future endeavors; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Tracey Ranieri.
