LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Robert A. Comis upon the occasion of his
retirement after more than 30 years of distinguished public service

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished citizens who demonstrate great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communi-
ties and this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its long-
standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert A. Comis upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 30
years of distinguished public service; and
WHEREAS, Robert A. Comis, affectionately known as Bob, has served as
Sherrill City Manager for the past eight years, after serving other
county and local positions for more than three decades; and
WHEREAS, Since the early 1980s, Bob Comis has worked in politics in
Oneida County; throughout the years, he served as Chief of Staff to the
Oneida County Administrator, and before moving to Sherrill in 1991, he
worked as the Deputy Commissioner for the City of Rome Department of
Public Works; and
WHEREAS, For the past 31 years, Bob Comis rendered faithful, conscien-
tious and valuable service to Oneida County; and
WHEREAS, In his capacity as City Manager, Bob Comis served with loyal-
ty, honor and distinction; he is directly responsible for 25 employees
and day-to-day operations, as well as the management of a number of city
entities including the fire department, police department, water depart-
ment and public works departments; and
WHEREAS, In addition, Bob Comis aids in budget preparations and
reports to the commission directly; and
WHEREAS, In his official acts, Bob Comis was governed by a keen sense
of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems; he has truly
earned the admiration, esteem and affection of his colleagues; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert A. Comis upon the occasion of his retirement after more
than 30 years of distinguished public service; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Robert A. Comis.
