LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Major Martin C. Hansen upon the occasion
of his retirement after more than 31 years of distinguished service to
the New York State Police Department
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and honor
those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote themselves to
public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence in providing
for the care and welfare of the citizens of their communities and this
great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their exem-
plary contributions and service on behalf of others; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Major Martin
C. Hansen upon the occasion of his retirement after more than 31 years
of distinguished service to the New York State Police Department; and
WHEREAS, A member of the New York State Police, Major Martin C. Hansen
is currently assigned as the Director of Traffic Services at Headquar-
ters in Albany, New York; and
WHEREAS, Prior to that assignment, Major Martin C. Hansen served in
Troops F, K, L, T, C and H; he was assigned to Troop F for most of his
career where he served as a Trooper, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain;
and
WHEREAS, Major Martin C. Hansen graduated from Saint John's University
with a degree in Criminal Justice, and from Northwestern University
Traffic Institute, School of Police Staff and Command; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, this outstanding officer has been a
member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police Highway
Safety Committee, New York State Police Chiefs Association, and has
served on several Traffic Safety Boards; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 33 years, Annie,
and their three sons, Brett, Troy (Brooke), and Ross, as well as one
grandson, Reed, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of his life and
rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those dedicated
public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the preservation
of order and the protection of others are worthy and due full praise for
their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Major Martin C. Hansen upon the occasion of his retirement after
more than 31 years of distinguished service to the New York State Police
Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to Major Martin C. Hansen.
