LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION honoring Edward S. Tucker posthumously upon the
occasion of having the Edward S. Tucker Memorial Traffic Signal named in
his honor by the Town of Shawangunk, New York

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and pay
tribute to those exemplary individuals within the Empire State who made
strong contributions to their communities and who inspired others
through their model citizenship and noble deeds; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Edward
S.Tucker posthumously upon the occasion of having the Edward S. Tucker
Memorial Traffic Signal named in his honor by the Town of Shawangunk,
New York; and
WHEREAS, In the fall of 2012, The State Department of Transportation
erected a full working traffic signal where former crossing guard Edward
S. Tucker was posted; the town of Shawangunk will name the traffic
signal in his honor on Wednesday, May 22, 2013; and
WHEREAS, A former town police officer and past chief of the Shawangunk
Valley Fire District, Edward S. Tucker, lost his life on May 22, 2007,
while serving as a crossing guard at the Wallkill High School; and
WHEREAS, A valued and involved member of his community, Edward S.
Tucker was called upon to contribute his time and talents to countless
civic and charitable endeavors always gave of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Edward S. Tucker stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an individ-
ual for the benefit of others which Edward S. Tucker displayed through-
out his life; and
WHEREAS, Edward S.Tucker's life was a portrait of service, a legacy
which will long endure the passage of time, and will remain as a
comforting memory to all he served and befriended; and
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to reflect upon
those outstanding individuals who have made everlasting contributions on
behalf of their fellow man and have truly left their mark on this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Edward S. Tucker posthumously upon the occasion of having Edward
S. Tucker Memorial Traffic Signal named in his honor by the Town of
Shawangunk, New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be tran-
smitted to the family of Edward S. Tucker.
